Meeting The Challenges of Providing Care to the

Ever Increasing Geriatric Population

It is estimated that the US population aged 65 and older will grow   from 35 million in 2000 to 78 million in 2050 and those aged 85 and older will increase from 4 million to 31.2 million. The number of older adults in Arizona will triple by 2030, while the number of geriatricians and other healthcare professionals continues to decrease. To meet the healthcare needs today and in the future, the Arizona Geriatrics Society is dedicated to supporting the development of professionals in geriatrics and gerontology who are committed to improving and developing best practices in healthcare for older adults. Membership is open to physicians (geriatricians and primary care physicians as well as surgical and medical specialists), nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, case managers, facility administrators and other allied professionals providing care to older adults in Arizona. The AzGS supports a call to action to strengthen and ensure the best geriatric care in the future. Now is the time to share your knowledge and expertise with this growing and dynamic professional association.
